The village of Mursley is mentioned in the Domesday book as a thriving market
town en route from Buckingham to London. In 1580 Sir John Fortescue, cousin, tutor
and Chancellor of the Exchequer to Queen Elizabeth 1,
built a large palace in the hamlet of Salden, the village grew up in it's service.
